I suggest a BRIEF topic (of interest to me) from a recent Wall Street Journal article titled "Military Tests New Way of Tracking". It discusses a proposed software platform that can turn civilian smartphones into a "sniffer" such that it can detect wireless signals from nearby devices and report their location and function.
