Early riser or wanting to be? Love premium coffee and engaging conversation? Then please join me for a weekly re-occurring coffee and conversation starting at the Aspen Trail!

HIKE DESCRIPTION: We will all meet at the Aspen Trail, I will share coffee, and we will have introductions for the first 15 minutes, then depart promptly at 7:15.

Head West on Aspen Trail toward Wildwood Trail
Continue onto Wildwood Trail
Turn left onto Birch Trail
Arrive at location: Birch Trail parking lot ~7:50 just in time for sunrise
Turn around and repeat these steps in reverse arriving back at the Aspen entrance at ~8:20.

WHAT TO BRING:

A thermos or cup for coffee
Water bottle
Layers of clothing / rain jacket based on weather
A thirst for premium coffee and good conversation
Well mannered dogs allowed (leashed, no barking, well trained, etc.)

BREW PROCESS: I use a Chemex with about 5 scoops (~60g) of coffee per batch with a medium/fine grind, I heat natural spring water (PH ~7.0) using my 5.0L Zojirushi boiler to ~208degF, pre-wet the filter, fill up the top of the Chemex with water and stir the grounds into a frothy brew. Pouring about 3 batches into the insulated carafes to share! Chemex is a pour-over method which is great for larger batches and offers the right flavor profile!

ABOUT YOUR HOSTS:

Daniel: Hi! I was born and raised in Oregon and Iā€™m a digital artist, hiker, trail runner, recovering engineer and wannabe entrepreneur! At the time of this writing I've attended over 100 meetups (since starting July 2021). Not only did Meetup help me get back in shape but I also met some amazing friends and even my girlfriend Roya on this platform!

Roya: Hi! I enjoy hiking and I'm a blossoming interior designer and space planner. I geek out on all things furniture and anything that sparks my creativity! I like to explore new food options and love cooking. Always looking to make new friends with similar interests that are active and like to go on adventures! And obviously I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend Daniel (btw he is writing this šŸ˜†).

COVID-19 Guidelines: Please don't come if you or anyone you were in contact with or had COVID-19 symptoms in last 14 days.

NOTE: If you are in the going list, and decide you are not going to attend, please update your RSVP to "Not going". That said, this hike has a longer introductions period to make it easier for people who might be running 5 or 10 mins late but we will always leave promptly at 7:15. Being an out-and-back also gives folks the option to turn around if you need to depart early for any reason. I also reserve the right to turn anyone away for poor behavior, so please be nice :). Lastly, there is ZERO! expectation of any cash for the coffee but I can provide my Venmo for anyone who insists.

Disclaimer: Hike leaders are simply volunteers and try their best to make it a fun experience for everyone, but assume no liability for any injury, loss or damage. Every PHMG member is required to read our group's waiver, and signing up or attending an event implies your approval.
