For our April meeting, Bobby Meier will be giving the talk:

Lossless Computation: Galois, Reed-Solomon, and Fourier

Chemical or Mechanical processing always suffers from friction and entropy increase. Likewise general information processing always loses information and increases entropy.

However, computation or transmission, in a Galois field is reversible and thus no information is lost. Reed-Solomon error correction and Fast Fourier Transforms in a Galois field perform with precision every day what was unbelievable "startrek magic" less than 3 decades ago.

As usual, we will coincide this meeting with ColaLUG, the Columbia SC Linux User's Group, and teleconference with them at:

April 11, 2023, 6:30 p.m. - April 11, 2023, 8 p.m.
