This month's talks: Privacy-First Analytics and Fathom Analytics Sam Redfern Fathom Analytics is one of several new Open Source, privacy-first, website analytics solutions. This talk is about its origin story, including a minor technical deep dive, and how policies like GDPR have created a market for solutions that store less user data. Future of Work in the Age of Microservices Vivek Bharadwaj The future of work is very different to what our parents experienced. Are we standing at the precipice of a watershed moment fuelled by AI, blockchain, quantum, and other Gartner Hype chart buzzwords — or are we just in a continuum of change that every generation has faced? This is up for debate. But the trends show workforce sizes are shrinking by 30% (and counting) per decade for most companies under 500 employees, while the large companies are growing larger. AI and automation have been shifting the very notion of value that we contribute to business, and to society. A similar paradigm shift has been taking place in software engineering as more and more companies are adopting “microservices”. What lessons can we learn from this architecture as we prepare ourselves for the workplace of the future, powered by intelligent automation tools?
