Hi, civic tech community!

We, Eticas Foundation, are promoting the creation of the Barcelona Civic Tech House, a co-working space for initiatives and organizations dedicated to civic technology, ethics and the common good.

It's an exciting project that we have been pushing for a while, and now it's time to share it with the whole community.

We would love have you on board in this adventure! For this reason, we invite you to a guided tour to visit to the physical space that will host the Civic Tech House, on May 20th.

We want to open doors next Autumn, and although we still have a long way to go (hopefully together!) we already have a road made. Want to know more? Come on the 20th and we will explain you everything.

Do you know of someone else who could be interested? Please, forward this call.

CIVIC TECH HOUSE BARCELONA

What is:

We have secured a great historical space in at the heart of the technology community in Barcelona, just footsteps from the sea. This will be a meeting, work and networking space for organizations and initiatives that work to promote civic technology. We will open our doors in October 2019 with 1,000 square meters of civic tech space that we can expand as we grow.

For who:

We are surrounded by people who want to do things well. Engineers, mathematicians and physicists who understand that ethics, privacy and an understanding of the legal and social impact of their developments is crucial to building better tech -and are doing so.

Social scientists committed to using their knowledge and tools to grasp how technological processes are impacting in our societies and mitigating negative externalities. Non-profits that fight for digital rights day in and day out. Companies, large and small, that are seeking ways to build trust with their partners and citizens by improving their data practices. Funders who want to put their resources where their mouth is and contribute to this endeavor. We want to get them all together.

Why?

We want to bring all these actors together, virtually and physically, to provide visibility to the narratives and practices that are emerging. We want to open up the tech agenda by co-creating socially desirable futures and fostering positive impact.
